what if She...the absence of the divine feminine in the patriachy.

Updated: Jul 7, 2023

July 14th, 2023 through July 30th, 2023 at edgegallery.org

A look through the artistic lense at the lack of the sacred feminine in our world.

Embroidered pieces on second hand items will be accompanid by live reading of:

Her, Him, They, the Elders, and Artists Prayer.

To be performed every hour on the half hour from 6:30pm until 8:30pm MST with accompanying live feed on https://www.instagram.com/heather.hauptman/ .

This of course, is subject to change. Depending mostly on any personal amount of chickening out that the artist (me, in this case) may be suffering under at that time of reading. Everything in the abstract seems possilble, and the moment of truth comes. And that, is scary as hell!

Her:

She wasn't sure

when she first realized it,

Not noticing the fine mist of toxins

that floated in through crevices

in her bedroom window.

Past filters and seals it settled on her.

Unaware it began to shift her chemistry as she slept,

as she dreamt of who she might be.

Eyes dilated, limbs numb she awoke

having lost herself to the hunger for polished skin and its shallow shine.

The dreams of who she might have been when she grew up faded,

and were replaced with the one desire

to be pretty.

Him:

He wasn’t sure when he first realized it,

an imperceptible change in direction,

a drifting from one side to another .

Sliding his arm from around his best friend's shoulders

so they could teach the both of them

the importance of a firm handshake.

The adults smiled at them as they practiced.

So grown up he felt

that he didn’t notice he never hugged his best friend again.

If you are in the Denver metro area, and can come on Friday July 12th, 2023 between the hours of 6pm-9pm, please do. I'd love your support. This is a scary.
